Castle Rock hires former Colorado Springs attorney to investigate quid pro quo claims against Mayor Mark Davis

Castle Rock has hired a former Colorado Springs attorney to investigate quid pro quo allegations involving Mayor Mark Davis. The town confirmed the appointment Saturday, saying the attorney will review claims that Davis used his official position for personal benefits.
Town officials did not release the attorney's name but said the probe will be independent and report directly to the town attorney's office. The investigation follows a formal request from the Castle Rock City Council earlier this year after allegations surfaced about Davis's interactions with developers and town contractors.
Davis has denied wrongdoing. His office did not respond to a request for comment Saturday.
The town council is expected to receive a report on the findings. No timeline for completion has been set.
This is the second time in three years that Castle Rock has hired outside counsel to investigate an elected official. In 2023, the town commissioned a review of complaints against a council member, which was closed without public findings.
