Stolen Denver truck ends police chase in Aurora church garden

A stolen Denver truck crashed into a church garden in Aurora on Friday night, ending a short police pursuit, the Aurora Police Department said.
Officers went to East Colfax Avenue and North Dayton Street around 9:45 p.m. after reports of a stolen vehicle. The truck had been stolen in Denver before the pursuit crossed into Aurora.
Officers followed the truck through several streets before it hit the church garden and stopped. The driver was taken into custody at the scene, police said. No injuries were reported.
The truck was towed from the property after investigators cleared the scene. Police said the pursuit was short and did not damage other vehicles.
The truck did not hit the church building, and no church members or staff were struck, police said. The garden was damaged. Police did not immediately provide a repair estimate.
The driver was held on suspicion of vehicle theft and eluding police. Investigators said they were working to notify the truck’s owner. Police said the incident remained under investigation.
